Kickin' it on the Indy tip, yo

Greg from Comics Should Be Good discusses three graphic novels from independent companies that I want to check out:

The Annotated Mantooth (AiT/Planet Lar)

Heartbreakers Meet Boilerplate (IDW)

and the one which intrigues me most, Capote in Kansas (Oni Press)

I've been hearing a lot of good things about Capote in Kansas lately. i might have to dip into that.

I've been meaning to tell you about The Atheist, an Image book written by Phil Hester (The Coffin, Deep Sleeper) and pencilled by John McCrea (Hitman). The protagonist actually gives me a Warren Ellis vibe, but Hester definitely has his own style. It's pretty damn good. Hester's a hell of a penciller, too . . . I'm waiting for him to do that breakout book that establishes him on the level of writer/artist double-threats like Frank Miller. Anyway, yeah--The Atheist? Me likey.

I found the second issue of The Atheist at the ol' FLCS today. I'll hunt around for the first one this weekend.
